Global Power Products (GPP) is one of the fastest growing names in diesel generators. We manufacture enclosed, open frame and keel cooled units, specializing in 8 to 100 kW models. Headquartered in Union, NJ, we share facilities with our parent company, Mack Boring & Parts Company. As exclusive east coast factory distributors for Mitsubishi and Isuzu small bore diesel engines, we have built an industrial sales, engineering, equipment fabrication, service, parts and support organization with an outstanding reputation as a leader in our field.
The company was founded in 1922 by Ed “Mack” McGovern Sr., a WWI Navy veteran, as a 500 sq. ft. machine shop in Newark, NJ. After several expansions in Newark, Mack Boring relocated in 1966 to a state-of-the-art 5-acre property in Union, NJ where it is still managed today by the third and fourth generation McGovern family.
As the business has grown since moving from Newark to our present location in Union, NJ, we have continually expanded the scope of our operations. Today, at our Union headquarters, you will find one of the most advanced diesel power engineering, assembly, service and distribution organizations in North America. In addition to housing our general offices, the facilities include:
Assembly facility (also called the “Applications” building) where engines are prepared with transmissions and other components and dyno tested to meet individual customer application requirements. It is also where diesel power units and GPP diesel generators are assembled.
Product warehouse – holds a large inventory of engines,
generators, transmissions and components, as well as ready to ship GPP diesel generators.
Engineering, where GPP engineers employ advanced CAD equipment to design diesel generator equipment that will meet our customers’ unique requirements. Standard generator designs are also modified there to meet the diesel power objectives of our customers.
Parts Distribution Center – with over 10,000 engine, generator and related parts in stock for immediate shipping anywhere around the world, Mack Boring and GPP parts specialists are ready to assist customers order the right parts for their job.
Marine Transmission Center, staffed with industry leading power train experts, keeps a deep inventory of leading brand marine transmissions,
power train components and related parts in stock.
Engine and transmission rebuilding – skilled mechanics rebuild a wide range of engines and transmissions, giving customers years of extended life at a cost considerably below buying and installing new product. Even engine manufacturers send worn engines to Mack Boring for quality rebuilding.
Service Dept. – it’s the hub of technical information and the source for diesel and generator service, either in our shop or on the road. Whether it’s through our own factory trained technicians, or one of our highly qualified service dealers, our service managers ensure that when service is required, it will be handled in a professional and timely manner.
