2012/ 2013 TRAINING COURSE OUTLINE
Yanmar Engine Dealers:
Small Engine Course
3-Day Course
REQUIRED MINIMUM ONCE EVERY 3 YRS
OVERVIEW - The small engine course is structured for the new technician involved in servicing vessels powered by the Yanmar GM, YM, JH engine families. Instruction will contain preventive maintenance skills relative to maintaining the engine, cooling and fuel systems, making necessary adjustments and minor repairs to extend serviceability. The technician will learn through hands-on experience disassembly and reassembly procedures, proper valve adjustment and fuel injection timing. The technician will gain knowledge of the proper methods of troubleshooting, diagnosis and damaged part evaluation. Information on the testing and break in of the engine after an engine rebuild or re-power installation has been completed will be included.
Saildrive 20-50: 1-Day Course
Prerequisite: Small Engine Course
Combine with the Small Engine Course for 4 days
This Saildrive class is designed for dealers with technicians who have attended the Small Engine Class. The course will cover introduction to the drive, review of maintenance requirements and procedures, basic troubleshooting and installation procedures.
Yanmar Medium Engine Dealers:
Medium Engine Course
4-Day Course
New Jersey Location ONLY
REQUIRED ONCE EVERY 3 YEARS
OVERVIEW - The medium engine course is structured for the technician involved in servicing vessels powered by the Yanmar 4LH, 6LY and 6LP engine families. Instruction will contain preventive maintenance skills relative to maintaining the engine, cooling and fuel systems, making necessary adjustments and minor repairs to extend serviceability. The technician will learn through hands-on experience disassembly and reassembly procedures, proper valve adjustment and fuel injection timing. The technician will gain knowledge of the proper methods of troubleshooting, diagnosis and damaged part evaluation. BY2 Medium Engine:
3-Day Course
New Jersey Location Only
REQUIRED ONCE EVERY 3 YEARS
Prerequisite: Medium Engine Course
This is an in depth, hands-on class for the BY2 Series engine only.
The class will encompass general engine information, parts, fuel and oil filter change, how to handle the common rail fuel lines and accessories. BY2 engine electrical, electronic engine control system and electronic troubleshooting will be covered.
Yanmar Gold & Gold Plus Medium Engine Dealers
8LV Electronic Engine:
2-Day Course
New Jersey location only
REQUIRED ONCE EVERY 3 YEARS
Prerequisite: BY2 Medium Engine
The 8LV electronic engine class will encompass general engine information, parts, fuel and oil filter change, how to handle the common rail fuel lines and accessories. 8LV engine electrical, electronic engine control system and electronic troubleshooting will be covered. Programming engine, helm and stern drive, ECU's utilizing the VCS display, and the Smart Assist Direct laptop computer program (old YDT).
Dealer must bring laptop with Yanmar Smart Assist loaded.
Yanmar ZT370 Drive:
1-Day Course
New Jersey location only
Prerequisite: Medium Engine Course or BY2 Medium Engine or 8LV Electronic Engine
The ZT370 course will cover an introduction to the drive, review of maintenance requirements, procedures, and basic troubleshooting, review of installation procedures.
Yanmar Smart Assist (replacing YDT)
1-Day Course
New Jersey Location Only
Prerequisite: Electronic/Mechanical LY3 Engine Series
REQUIRED ONCE EVERY 2 YEARS
Combine with 6LY3 Electronic Engine for 4 days
This class is designed for dealers with 6LY3 engines. The course will cover operation, navigation and diagnosis functionality of Yanmar Smart Assist.
Dealer must bring laptop with Yanmar Smart Assist loaded
Electronic 6LY3 Engine
3-Day Course
New Jersey Location Only
Prerequisite: Medium Engine Course and YDT/ Smart Assist
REQUIRED ONCE EVERY 3 YEARS
Combined with Yanmar Smart Assist for 4 days
The instruction in this class is to introduce the Yanmar Electronic Engines with Electronic Control Systems. Instruction will encompass classroom and hands-on instruction on the 6LY3 Electronic controlled engines. The technician will learn the proper installation, maintenance, operation and trouble-shooting of engine electronics and electronic control system. Fuel injection pump removal and reinstallation, ECU calibration and test running of engine.
Dealer must bring laptop with Smart Assist loaded
Electronic/Mechanical CX530, 6SY, 8SY Engine:
2-Day Course
New Jersey Location Only
Prerequisite: Electronic 6LY3 Engine Series
REQUIRED ONCE EVERY 3 YEARS
The instruction in this class is to introduce the Yanmar Electronic Engines with Electronic Control Systems. Instruction will encompass classroom and actual hands-on instruction on the Electronic PDE injector type engines. The technician will learn the proper installation, maintenance, operation and trouble-shooting of engine electronics and electronic control system.
